I will start by saying Dr. Hamon teaching style really appealed to me. The extended use of Google and embracing of todays technology was a lesson in itself. The greatest take-away from this class was the use of Gemini and how to incorporate that into improving my writing. For me, I found that I would take my work and submit into Gemini and liked what it wrote much better than my own work! It was more succinct with improved clarity. Knowing I cannot use Gemini to do my work but I can use it to help me with my writing.  As for what was least important, well really nothing comes to mind. I found all of the class useful, but in fairness to Dr. Hamon request I will provide my least appealing part. What I learned is traveling has its risk and can lead to catching Covid, but if you are going to have Covid there are few better places to be stuck then in the Bahamas.  Thanks for the class Dr Hamon.

Post 7 - High School vs College writing

Moving from High School to college writing has several immediate differences. The expectations, complexity, length of writing and adherence to writing styles is heavily scrutinized. Another difference is the amount of research required. In High School, some research would be necessary, in college, the amount of research required is much more extensive. College also requires a higher degree of original thought. High School is easier to spend less time on writing and more time focusing on extra-curricular activities. Kate Madalena explains it this way:   writing at the college level and beyond often has to   “do” a few things in the same text. Most involved writing assignments expect you to do at least two things. You may need to summarize/report and respond, or (more likely) you’ll need to summarize/report, synthesize, and respond. (185) Completing this requires more time, both in proofing and reproofing, 1 st drafts, 2 nd drafts and then more research. High Scho...

I very much enjoy how Janet uses the 5 questions to challenge and build the rhetoric of the any essay. It is a convincing starting point and helps the writer look at the topic from beginning to completion. I found her work to be very convincing and most useful. I found this statement from Janet very useful. "Here I offer my definition: rhetoric is what allows you to write (and speak) appropriately for a given situation, one that is determined by the expectations of your audience, implied or acknowledged," this helps me understand how to best reach my audience intended or otherwise.  Works Cited: Boyd, Janet. Post 5 - Why Aviation?

As the path of finding a career is thrust upon us and we, who are not independently wealthy, realized we must be employed to survive. Once accepting this fate, now the search begins. I found aviation and instantly fell in love. The golden era of aviation had such a romantic aura about it. To be a part of this legacy, even in a small way, is both humbling and exhilarating. The aviation industry continues to push the boundaries of technology and human ingenuity. Each flight, each journey, is a testament to the power of human ambition. My experience is aviation will consume your attention and fill your ambition. Each flight, each landing, is special are the testament of teamwork at the the highest level.

Post 4: Rhetoric about Rhetorical

Laura Bolin Carroll says it like this, "The more we know about how to analyze situations and draw informed conclusions, the better we can become about making savvy judgments about the people, situations and media we encounter." (Carroll, 45) Imagine working as a professional where people rely upon you to do your job so well that they trust and count upon you for the most precious times of life. The birth of a child, attending a graduation or wedding, taking a long time planned vacation or saving the life of someone special, aviation does all these. It is a relatively small amount of professional who devote their careers to this amazing industry.  So many options for such a small community of professionals, line service, flight attendant, dispatcher, gate agent, operations manager, engineer, designer, pilot and mechanic, all work like a well oiled machine to make the everyday flight have exceptional results.  What started as a hobby is now a very rewarding career.  H...

Post 3: Citation Confusion

Author Mike Bunn has a great way of working quotes into his writings. He is careful in how he want to lead the reader and write in such a way that reaches the reader. He adjust the writings differently if directed towards experts in the field versus if writing to someone who knows very little about the topic.  I took a similar approach in my writings, using quotes from experts to validate my points, Christine Ammer, The best-laid plans go astray was a great quote supporting my writings about making plans for the future.  Mr. Bunn has a great way of asking how do I want the reader to feel or respond.

Post 2: My Rhetorical Situation

Hello Classmates,   My Doc 1 is written about the challenges I face in returning to College after many years since when I started. Since I started, I have raised a family and recently started my own business and now, back with you fine folks at MGA online. I placed my first paragraph in Gemini and below is what came back.  Overcoming Challenges in Returning to College Understanding the Struggle It's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed when returning to college after a significant gap. Life can certainly throw curveballs, making it difficult to juggle education, work, and personal commitments. However, it's important to remember that many people have successfully navigated this path. Why Persevere Despite the challenges, there are compelling reasons to continue your education: Personal Growth: College can offer intellectual stimulation, new perspectives, and personal development.
