I very much enjoy how Janet uses the 5 questions to challenge and build the rhetoric of the any essay. It is a convincing starting point and helps the writer look at the topic from beginning to completion. I found her work to be very convincing and most useful. I found this statement from Janet very useful. "Here I offer my definition: rhetoric is what allows you to write (and speak) appropriately for a given situation, one that is determined by the expectations of your audience, implied or acknowledged," this helps me understand how to best reach my audience intended or otherwise.

Clint, I also found her work convincing and useful. The quote you gave as an example explains excellently the best way to reach your intended audience. Part of the reason you write is to capture your audiences attention and keep it.
ReplyDeleteThe quote you used is a very good statement to point out as it provides how rhetoric helps the writer in writing. As with many others, I have also found Janet's work very useful in my own academic writing, especially defining what a rhetoric is what it's used for.
